Meet Brenda
Hi, I’m Brenda, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder of Growth Era Counseling & Wellness, LLC!
With over fourteen years of experience in the behavioral health field, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals during some of life’s most challenging and transformative moments. My work has spanned both inpatient and outpatient settings, shaping my deep respect for the courage it takes to seek help and the many different paths healing can take.
My Approach to Therapy
I bring a compassionate, practical, and real-life approach to therapy. My goal is to create a space where you can slow down, feel safe, and begin to exhale.. often for the first time in a long time.
Together, we make sense of what you’re carrying and work toward meaningful, sustainable change.
You Might Be Feeling…
Many of the clients I work with are women and mothers who feel exhausted in a way that sleep alone can’t fix.
They are often high-achieving, capable, and deeply caring.. yet overwhelmed by the constant pressure to do more, be more, and hold everything together.
On the outside, they may appear like they’re managing it all. And they probably are. But on the inside, they may feel:
Anxious or constantly on edge
Emotionally depleted
Stretched too thin
Unsure how long they can keep going at this pace
Therapy becomes a space to slow down and soften the pressure of perfectionism.. helping you offer yourself the same compassion you give to others.

What We May Work On Together
In our work together, we may focus on:
Understanding patterns that keep you feeling stuck
Regulating your nervous system and reducing overwhelm
Navigating life transitions with greater resilience
Building self-compassion and healthier boundaries
Processing the complexities and dualities of emotions in a supportive space
Feeling more grounded and present in your daily life
Therapeutic Approaches
My work is relational and integrative, drawing from evidence-based approaches including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
These approaches help us better understand your thoughts, emotions, patterns, and responses to life’s challenges.
Nervous System & Somatic Work
I also incorporate somatic and nervous system–informed work, recognizing that healing doesn’t happen through insight alone.. it happens in the body, too.
When we experience chronic stress, trauma, grief, or ongoing pressure (whether real or perceived), our nervous system can become stuck in patterns of survival. This may show up as:
Constant anxiety
Emotional overwhelm
Burnout
Difficulty resting
Feeling disconnected from yourself or others
In our work together, we gently begin to notice and understand these patterns. Rather than pushing through or trying to “think your way out” of distress, we focus on helping your nervous system feel safer, more supported, and more regulated.
This may include:
Building awareness of how stress shows up in your body
Learning grounding and regulation tools
Slowing patterns of overwhelm or reactivity
Reconnecting with your body’s needs and boundaries
Creating space between stress and your response
Over time, this work can help shift your system out of survival mode and into greater balance, resilience, and emotional steadiness.
