Hi, I’m Brenda! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor and the founder and owner of Growth Era Counseling & Wellness, LLC. I’m so glad you’re here!
With over fourteen years of experience in the behavioral health field, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals during some of life’s most challenging and transformative moments. My work has spanned inpatient and outpatient settings, where I’ve served as a patient advocate, individual therapist, IOP/PHP clinician, clinical supervisor, and assistant director of a residential treatment program. These roles have shaped my deep respect for the courage it takes to seek help and the many different paths healing can take.
In therapy, I bring a compassionate, practical, and real-life approach. I strive to create a space where you can slow down, feel safe, and begin to exhale- often for the first time in a long time. Many of the clients I work with are women and mothers who are exhausted in a way that sleep can’t fix. They are high-achieving, capable, and deeply caring, yet overwhelmed by the constant pressure to do more, be more, and hold everything together. Therapy becomes a place to unpack that weight, soften perfectionism, and learn how to offer yourself the same grace you give so freely to others.
I specialize in supporting young adults and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions. Whether you are grieving the loss of a loved one, a former version of yourself, or the life you thought you would have, grief deserves space, validation, and care. Transitions, whether chosen or unexpected, can leave your nervous system stuck in survival mode. Together, we work to restore balance, build resilience, and help you feel more grounded and present in your life.
My approach is relational and integrative, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I also incorporate somatic and nervous system–informed work, recognizing that healing doesn’t happen through insight alone, it happens in the body, too. This work can be especially helpful for chronic stress, trauma, burnout, and emotional exhaustion.
Therapy is not about fixing what’s broken, it’s about reconnecting with yourself, understanding your patterns, and learning how to move through life with greater compassion, clarity, and steadiness. If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply longing for a deeper sense of ease and understanding, I’m here to walk along side you and support you.

Therapy can be challenging, vulnerable, and deeply emotional, but it can also be relieving, clarifying, and even humorous at times. Life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, and sometimes finding moments of lightness along the way is part of what helps us keep going.
I strive to create a safe, supportive, and compassionate space where you can show up exactly as you are. Therapy is not about “fixing” you, it’s about helping you better understand yourself, build resilience, and learn how to carry both your strengths and your struggles with greater care. I believe meaningful growth happens when accountability and empathy exist together, and I work collaboratively with clients to support lasting, sustainable change without judgment.
I specialize in working with individuals navigating life transitions and grief in all its forms, including loss through death, identity shifts, relationship changes, addiction, and the futures we imagined but didn’t get to live. Transitions can leave people feeling ungrounded, overwhelmed, or unsure of who they are becoming. Therapy offers a place to slow down, process what’s been lost, and find clarity, meaning, and direction moving forward.
I also specialize in substance use recovery and relapse prevention, supporting clients as they rebuild trust in themselves, develop healthier coping strategies, and create lives that feel stable, fulfilling, and aligned with their values. Recovery is not just about stopping a behavior, it’s about healing the underlying pain, strengthening self-awareness, and learning how to respond differently when challenges arise.
My work is trauma-informed and rooted in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Relapse Prevention. I tailor therapy to each individual, recognizing that no two people, and no two healing journeys, are the same.
If you’re looking for a therapist who is honest, grounded, and human, someone who can sit with the hard moments while also finding space for humor and hope, I would be honored to work with you.
